A week after the event scheduled for 21-23 February was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, Takano says organisers "are working behind the scenes to devise the new roadmap."

Meanwhile, in just a few hours, "There'll be a @WordPress Pop-Up Livestream on February 22 (Friday night in US), please tune in!" tweets WordPress Co-founder Matt Mullenweg. He links to Pop-Up Livestream on February 22. The online event will include speakers who were affected by the WordCamp’s cancellation, including Imran Sayed, Md Saif Hassan, Muhammad Muhsin, Nirav Mehta, Piccia Neri, Umar Draz, and Francesca Marano.

Kudos to Wordfence, Godaddy Pro and Yoast

Kudos to @wordfence @GoDaddy and @yoast," tweets developer and theme reviewer Sandilya Kafle, while Smashing Mag contributor Leonardo Lowoviz tweets, "I got my flight ticket to #WCAsia refunded, thanks @WordFence, @GoDaddy, @Yoast, you rock! ♥️."

Sandilya and Leonardo are just two of the dozens of affected WordCamp Asia attendees who’ve accessed the $30,000 fund organised by Wordfence's Mark Maunder. As we shared last week, Wordfence, GoDaddy Pro and Yoast each contributed $10,000 to help cover airline and hotel change fees for people whose plans to attend WordCamp Asia were impacted by its cancellation.

If you were affected and haven’t applied for assistance, it’s not too late. As Mark tweeted on 18 February: "… We have had requests for a total of $17,152.49 at this point. That means we have $12,847.51 still available for WCAsia cancellation fee assistance. Great news if you haven't applied yet! Email [email protected] to get started."

Speaking of Wordfence…

"If you're using the Duplicator plugin, make sure you're on the latest version as soon as possible. Attackers are exploiting a file download vulnerability to harvest database credentials. @wordfence estimates over 500,000 sites are still vulnerable," tweets Wordfence Threat Analyst Mikey Veenstra. He links to Active Attack on Recently Patched Duplicator Plugin Vulnerability, which says over 1 million sites are now vulnerable. He urges all Duplicator users to update to version 1.3.28 as soon as possible.

On the WordPress.org blog, WordPress core contributor David Baumwald announces WordPress 5.4 Beta 2 is now ready for testing and feedback. WordPress 5.4 is slated for release on 31 March.

- – WooCommerce has partnered with Square to expand services for CBD merchants, Justin Tadlock reports for WP Tavern. The partnership means CBD sellers can now use services such as Jetpack and WooCommerce Shipping, which were previously not available to CBD stores.
- – Kinsta is looking for a new Social Media Manager.
- – Project outsourcing and plugin development company BracketSpace has launched Micropackage, a collection of open-source Composer and NPM packages with reusable WordPress-centric code.
