1. PressNomics legacy lives on with the launch of PressConf
Scheduled for April 23-26, 2025, in Tempe, Arizona, PressConf will channel the energy and impact of PressNomics, the much loved business conference hosted by Pagely founders Joshua and Sally Strebel.
Last weekend, Joshua gave PressConf his public blessing, posting in Post Status Slack that he and Sally "hope PressConf is a success and becomes a staple for the WP community going forward. We wish Raquel and her team of organizers well. Maybe we'll even see you there."
"If you're in the WordPress business space, this is the conference you need to be at in 2025," posted Matt Cromwell, Senior Director of Customer Experience at StellarWP, adding, "So excited that @raquel__karina 💗 is spear-heading this important event."
"TL:DR; PressNomics was always the best WP conf of the year, every single time," posted 9seeds owner Jon Brown.

2. Analysis of WP Engine data sparks debate as Automattic disputes leak claims
Among the findings: just 10 themes power nearly 40% of all WordPress websites hosted by WP Engine, the most popular theme is Divi, and the most popular plugin is Yoast SEO.
“Thrilled that one of my plugins is in the the top 100 😄,” posted Fullworks Plugins owner Alan Fuller, referring to his plugin Stop User Enumeration. Similarly, plugin developer Ross Morsali posted that it was a "(tiny) silver lining" that his plugin Search Filter Pro was the 76th most popular plugin listed in Brinzan’s report.
Automattic has disputed Brinzan’s take that the dataset was “leaked,” telling The Repository that the predominant sources used to compile the data included BuiltWith and W3Techs.
Meanwhile, Luehrsen // Heinrich CEO Hendrik Luehrsen voiced concerns, posting, “The unintended takeaway from the leak: most sites aren't running block-based themes. Full Site Editing (FSE) adoption in the wild is negligible.”

3. Mullenweg's 'forking' events claim dismissed as baseless
A cheeky Aussie who wore a WP Engine-branded hat and t-shirt to WordCamp Sydney has been caught up in Matt Mullenweg's war with the hosting company.
The panel session, including Jones's question, is available to watch on WPSydney's YouTube channel. While Jones isn't visible in the video, it's understood an Automattic employee filmed Jones's question and provided it separately to Mullenweg — a topic Guildenberg's Jonathan Wold and Luke Carbis, a member of the Plugin Review Team, discussed this week on their Crossword podcast.
