iThemes and Liquid Web acquire popular Restrict Content Pro plugin

iThemes has acquired Restrict Content Pro from Sandhills Development is Post Status's scoop this week. Brian Krogsgard speaks to Sandhills Development Managing Director Pippin Williamson and iThemes General Manager Matt Danner in the exclusive interview.

On the Sandhills blog, Pippin writes there's A Long, Bright Future for Restrict Content Pro with iThemes (and its parent company Liquid Web). He shares some insight into why he sold a "$500,000+ per year product with thousands of customers, a strong profit margin, and a dedicated team behind it."
"It occurred to me that selling Restrict Content Pro could allow us to narrow our focus, increase our development, support, and marketing resources on our other products, and to significantly insulate our team from downturns by putting more cash in the bank," he Pippin.
tenor-1
As part of the product-only deal, no members of the Sandhills team will be moving to iThemes. There's a multi-month transition plan in place and iThemes will be honoring existing licenses.

According to Brian, while the sale price hasn't been disclosed, it's "a seven-figure deal, likely somewhere between two and four times annual revenue."

For iThemes, the acquisition is a move away from the company's existing backend, utility-based products. "Now they get to not be just peace of mind to their customers, but an aid to helping customers actually make money," Brian explains.

"I'm so excited to have Restrict Content Pro join the @iThemes family. I can't thank @pippinsplugins and his team enough - not only for building an amazing plugin, but for how great they've been to work with on this deal," tweets Matt, linking to Restrict Content Pro is Joining the iThemes Family!.
