WordCamp US 2024 organizers dropped the full schedule and speaker line-up this week ahead of the September 17-20 event in Portland, Oregon, and as Zao founder Justin Sainton’s posted, “The entire schedule looks AMAZING. Mega props to the programming team!”
This year’s conference kicks off on a Tuesday with Contributor Day, followed by the inaugural Showcase Day on Wednesday, highlighting innovative uses of WordPress.
This new addition emphasizes WordPress’s growing influence in enterprise applications, featuring behind-the-scenes insights from agencies and developers scaling WordPress for high-profile clients like The New York Post, CNN, Vox Media, Amnesty International, and Disney Experiences.
The conference boasts an impressive lineup, with keynotes from TIME CTO Burhan Hamid and OSS Capital founder Joseph Jacks. Hamid will join Tim Hossain, Vice President of Growth and Demand Generation at WordPress VIP, for a fireside chat about how TIME leverages patterns to boost recirculation and engagement. Jacks, who was originally set to speak at WordCamp Asia 2024, will focus on the critical role of open source in technology, particularly in crypto, AI, and traditional tech markets.
On the Thursday afternoon, Automattic’s newly minted Head of WordPress YouTube, Jamie Marsland, will host a speed build challenge, featuring Equalize Digital CEO Amber Hinds and Brian Coords, Technology Director at HDC.
Other sessions on the program will explore Lone Rock Point’s cleaned up wp-admin for NASA’s large team of content creators, Wikimedia Foundation’s use of WordPress for its multilingual blog, projects using WordPress Playground, and a deep dive into the Interactivity API.
This year’s program also prioritizes networking, with sessions concluding at 3pm each day, giving attendees lots of time to connect in the sponsor hall. Notably, WordCamp US 2024 wraps up on a Friday, allowing attendees to enjoy their weekend without work obligations.
As AshWebStudio owner Derek Ashauer noted on X, “Thursday has more sessions I’m interested in than the entirety of [WordCamp US] 2023.” WordPress VIP’s James Giroux added , “Some of the most impactful experiences of my life happened at #WCUS. If you haven’t yet, get your tickets now. It’s an incredible opportunity to grow your network, strengthen relationships and build partnerships.”
