Michelle Frechette

This week, what's inspiring Michelle Frechette, Director of Community Engagement at StellarWP, co-founder of Underrepresented in Tech, podcaster at WPCoffeeTalk, Director of Community Relations at Post Status, and WordFest Live organizer.

A podcast worth listening to:
The Underrepresented in Tech podcast. Allie Nimmons and I talk about some of the hard things no one is talking about in the tech community. Aside from that shameless plug, I’d encourage people to listen to WP Briefing with Josepha Haden, the executive Director for the WordPress Open Source Project. She shares where WordPress is going, the strategy to get there, and how others can be involved. And I love a WordPress podcast by a woman, for sure!

A concept worth understanding:
Your mental health is important, and advocating for yourself and your own wellbeing in the workplace is equally as important. As the president of the board for Big Orange Heart and an organizer for WordFest, the organization and our events center around mental wellbeing for this reason. Our mission is “To support and promote positive well-being and mental health within remote working communities.” WordFest is one of the ways we do that.

A Twitter account worth following:
@aBigOrangeHeart 🧡. We share encouragement and keep you up-to-date on our events there.

An article worth reading:
Sarah Gooding did a great writeup on WordFest over at WP Tavern. It’s a nice succinct overview of WordFest, why the event is important, and what Big Orange Heart is all about.

A habit worth forming:
Drinking more water. Our bodies and minds work so much better when we’re hydrated. Hydration helps regulate our temperature, helps our immune system work better, keeps our kidneys and our body’s other filtering organs work better, and actually helps us be more alert and able to process information better.
