Announcing: WC Blocks Extensibility Monthly Chat

Hi, folks!

Starting Monday, February 13th at 1600 UTC, we’ll be piloting a three-month program for a monthly chat where we will engage with you, our developer community, about WooCommerce Blocks Extensibility.

The chats will take place in the #developers channel on the WooCommerce Community Slack

What is this monthly chat for?

The WC Blocks Extensibility Monthly Chat will be a space to focus specifically on WC Blocks extensibility interfaces. During these sessions, we want developers to actively shape the future of WC Blocks by hearing what developers’ integrations need from us to be successful and get feedback on existing extensibility points. During the first iterations of these sessions, we will focus specifically on the Cart & Checkout Blocks.

How is this different from the monthly office hours?

Office hours are an opportunity for developers to ask questions they need answered or share challenges they need help navigating across various topics. We try to set a theme for each session, but all questions are welcome.

However, the WC Blocks Extensibility Monthly Chat will be explicitly focused on creating a space where the community can help us define the future of WC Blocks.

Why a pilot program?

We want to be transparent with you, and we want to make sure that we meet the expectations we are setting. Before we commit to a long-term cadence, we want to test out these Monthly Chats to ensure they are a valuable use of our community’s time. During this time, we encourage you to give us feedback on how we can make these sessions most useful. In order to keep the focus narrow and make sure we have the right people available to attend these sessions, we will be focusing specifically on the Cart & Checkout Blocks during the pilot period.

At the end of the three-month trial, we’ll evaluate things and make a decision about whether to continue the monthly chats or find alternative ways to involve the community in defining the future of WC Blocks.

First session

The goal of the first session is to understand and help remove any blockers developers have in their Cart & Checkout Block integrations. We also want to hear which extensibility interfaces developers want the most when working with Cart & Checkout blocks.

You may submit your questions before the session here, but you are always welcome to come with questions on the day of the synchronous chat.

When: Monday, February 13th at 1600 UTC – 1700 UTC

Where:  #developers channel on the WooCommerce Community Slack

Who: @mikejolley and @opr18, who are engineers working on Blocks here at WooCommerce, will be hosting our first session.
