Advertising Policy
The Repository welcomes relationships with sponsors and advertisers aligned to our principles and values.
While recognising advertising and sponsorship as legitimate sources to fund open access publishing, it is important they do not inappropriately affect editorial independence or the ethics of the publisher, editors, or journalists.
The following terms and conditions govern all sponsorship and advertising in The Repository, published by The Repository WP.
Sponsorship
Selected sponsors may provide either financial contributions or other non-financial support under the following conditions:
- Sponsors will be recognised with the display of their name, logo, and/or links to their websites on The Repository’s Our Backers page.
- Sponsors will be recognised with the display of promotional text in The Repository’s weekly newsletter during their sponsorship term.
- Sponsorship is not guaranteed until payment has been received in full. Sponsors commit to paying the full fee before the publication date (unless agreed otherwise). Sponsors are liable to pay the fee in full even if the ad contains typos or errors, unless it’s proven without reasonable doubt that they were caused by us.
- Sponsors recognise the absolute integrity of editorial independence and must not attempt to influence editorial decisions including selection of content, choice of topic (e.g. exclusive news items), choice of journalists and reviewers, manner of presentation.
- The Repository reserves the right to refuse sponsorship from any business or organisation and will not be bound to offer any justification for its decision.
- Sponsors may request a cancellation and refund up to two weeks before the commencement of their agree sponsorship term. We reserve the right to cancel and refund booked ad slots at any time without providing a reason. If the sponsor requests the refund, we reserve the right to retain a fee of USD 10.00 to cover the transaction cost charged to us by Stripe.
- Sponsors names and marks may be removed from the site where the agreement with a sponsor has lapsed or the sponsor is suspected of practices misaligned with The Repository’s values.
- All services provided to Sponsors, which are subject to these terms, are provided without warranties. In no event shall we be liable to the sponsor for an amount in excess of the total dollar amount actually received by us.
Advertising
The Repository recognises certain paid advertisements, provided by sponsors, as a legitimate source of financial support for our publications.
The Repository allows the appearance of paid advertisements on the following sections of its website: Homepage and news articles.
Paid advertising will only be accepted under the following conditions:
- All materials supplied by sponsors for advertising is subject to our review and must adhere to our guidelines. We may suggest or require edits and in some cases, when typos or mistakes are obvious, make small changes at our discretion.
- Sponsors are solely responsible for the materials provided and acknowledge that they are authorized to publish the materials and that the materials comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Users must be able to clearly distinguish advertising from editorial content.
- The Repository reserves the right to refuse advertising from any business or organisation and will not be bound to offer any justification for its decision.
- Sponsors may request changes to their supplied ad assets no later than one week before the publication date. If assets are not supplied by at least one week prior to the publication date, we reserve the right to cancel and resell the ad slot without providing a refund. If the sponsor has previously booked an ad slot, we may reuse materials already provided in the past.
- The Repository is not liable for any failure to publish an accepted advertisement. If an ad does not appear when or where expected, The Repository will make every effort to place the advertisement in the next available advertising space.
- Advertisements may be removed from the site where the agreement with a sponsor has lapsed or the sponsor is suspected of practices misaligned with The Repository’s values.
Privacy and The Repository Website
- Sponsors and advertisers will have no influence over search results on The Repository website or design of webpages.
- Sponsors and advertisers will have no access to any personal information about The Repository’s team members, contractors, users, readers, subscribers or any other parties associated with The Repository.
- Sponsors and advertisers may receive aggregated data about responses to advertisements (e.g. number of views or click throughs). No other behavioural or personal data will be made available.
