Community Guidelines
We’re here to spark thoughtful, meaningful conversations about the WordPress ecosystem. Whether you’re reading, commenting, or sharing, we’re happy to have you as part of our community.
To help make The Repository a welcoming and engaging space for everyone, we’ve put together a few simple guidelines for how we engage—both on our website and wherever The Repository connects with readers.
How to be a great community member
Be respectful
We value kindness and constructive discussion. Respect others, even when you disagree. Approach conversations with empathy and think about how your words affect others. Help make this a space where everyone feels comfortable to contribute.
Be curious
Our goal is to learn, share ideas, and challenge assumptions about the WordPress ecosystem together. Stay open-minded, ask questions, and be ready to discover something new.
Stay relevant and add value
The best comments contribute something insightful, fresh or useful to the discussion. Whether it’s your perspective, an example, or an interesting link, aim to deepen the conversation. Off-topic comments or one-liners don’t help move the conversation forward.
Support your points
Just like we strive to publish well-sourced journalism, we appreciate thoughtful comments. When possible, back up your insights with links, examples, or data. Sharing resources helps everyone learn more.
Be a good community member
Our moderators are here to keep this space positive and welcoming, but we rely on our community too. If you spot spam, disrespectful comments, or something that doesn’t belong here, please flag it.
What’s not OK?
We’re here to foster healthy, productive conversations. We may remove comments that don’t meet these standards. Repeated or serious violations can result in a ban.
- No personal attacks: Debate ideas, not individuals.
- No hate speech: Discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, sexuality, ability, or any other identity will not be tolerated.
- No comments on appearance: We’re here to discuss ideas, not people’s looks, voices, or styles—no matter how well-intentioned.
- No trolling: Disruptive behavior, inflammatory remarks, and dismissive comments like “slow news day” will be removed.
- No misinformation: False or misleading information isn’t welcome here.
- No doxxing: Don’t share private or personal information about others.
- No illegal content: Don’t share anything that promotes illegal activity.
- No NSFW content: Keep it professional—no graphic, explicit, or offensive material.
- No spam or self-promotion: Sharing your work is fine when relevant, but blatant self-promotion or spam will be removed.
We also ask that feedback on our editorial work is shared constructively. Blanket accusations of bias or unhelpful comments about our writers won’t lead to meaningful discussion.
One last thing
Our moderators are here to help The Repository stay friendly and engaging. If something is harming the conversation, we’ll step in.
